Before you go

  • Passport validity

    At least 6 months.

  • How to apply

    Apply at https://evisa.td at least 7 days and at most 90 days before entry. The site notes 'new visa pricing' (amounts not captured). Consular alternative per GSA: tourist/business R1,400 (urgent R1,600), cash, 5 working days.

  • Where South Africans apply

    Online at evisa.td, or the Embassy of the Republic of Chad, 157 Banket St, Waterkloof, Pretoria (submissions Mon–Thu 09:30–11:30).

  • Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa

    CHAD: yellow fever certificate required. RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA: Chad is on South Africa's yellow fever risk-country list. South African Department of Health / DIRCO rules require every traveller over 1 year old (South Africans included) arriving from a risk country, or transiting a risk-country airport for more than 12 hours, to show a valid yellow fever certificate (vaccine at least 10 days before departure; certificates are valid for life). Without one you may be refused entry or quarantined for up to 6 days.

  • Arrival forms

    Register with police (Commissariat Central, N'Djamena) within 72 hours if staying longer.
