How we research

Every answer on this site comes from a source you can check. Next to each fact we show where it came from and how sure we are.

Where our information comes from

In order of trust.

Official
The destination country's own government, such as its immigration department, foreign ministry, official e-visa portal or embassy.
Other government
Official travel advice from other governments, such as the UK Foreign Office or the US State Department.
Reference
Reference works such as Wikipedia, used to find official sources, never as the final word.
Commercial
Visa agencies and travel companies.
News and guides
News reports and travel guides. We use these only as leads to check, never as the answer.

How sure we are

Confirmed on an official government source
We read it on the destination country's own official website.
Confirmed by other governments' official advice
At least one other government's official advice says the same thing.
Not yet confirmed by an official source
We found it, but haven't confirmed it officially yet.
Not published by official sources
No official source we checked covers this point.

If we can't confirm a country's main entry rule, we say so clearly at the top of its page and don't present it as fact.

Rules change, sometimes with little noticeAlways check with the destination's embassy or official immigration website before you book or travel.
