For South African passport holders. Last checked 5 October 2026.
Visa requirement
South Africans don't need a visa for Gabon.
Permitted stay
You can stay up to 30 days per visit.
Before you go
- Passport validity
At least 6 months after the date you arrive (UK advice, applies to UK visitors; Gabon's rule for exempt visitors not checked).
- How to apply
No visa needed if the exemption holds. Gabon's e-visa (for non-exempt nationals) is run by DGDI, Gabon's immigration directorate, at evisa.dgdi.ga per Wikipedia: EUR 70 or XAF 45,000 plus EUR 15 for 1 to 3 months single entry; EUR 185 or XAF 120,000 plus EUR 15 for 6 months multiple entry; valid only for arrival at Léon Mba International Airport, Libreville. The domain could not be opened in this pass.
- Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa
GABON: A yellow fever certificate is required to enter, whatever country you arrive from (UK advice). SOUTH AFRICA: Gabon is on South Africa's yellow fever risk list. Everyone over 1 year old, South Africans included, returning to South Africa from Gabon, or after an airport transit of more than 12 hours there, must show a valid yellow fever certificate on arrival in South Africa. Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel; the certificate is valid for life.
