Ireland: do South Africans need a visa?
South Africans need to apply for a visa before travel to Ireland. You can stay up to 90 days per visit.
Visa required (Short Stay 'C' visa). Ireland imposed the requirement on South African passport holders from 10 July 2024. South Africa is also on Ireland's transit-visa-required list.12

Transit
South Africans are on the transit visa list (EUR 25). At Dublin, a transit visa is enough only if both flights are in Terminal 2 between 04:00 and 20:00 on the same day; otherwise you need a full entry visa. A UK visa does NOT let South Africans enter Ireland: the Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme and the British Irish Visa Scheme do not include South Africa (BIVS: Indian and Chinese nationals only).21011

Travelling with children
Applications for under-18s must be made by a parent/guardian; the visa states whether the child travels accompanied or unaccompanied. Include birth certificate and parental consent where one parent or neither is travelling. South Africa's own exit rules for minors apply separately.3
