Visa requirement
South Africans need to apply for a visa before travel to Kosovo.
Permitted stay
Up to 15 days under the Schengen visa or permit exemption. On a Kosovo short-stay (C) visa, up to 90 days in 6 months depending on the visa issued.
Before you go
- Purpose of visit
Short-stay C visa for visits; long-stay D visa for longer stays.
- Passport validity
Not published on the page checked. UK FCDO says passports must be valid for the length of the stay.
- How to apply
Apply in person at a Kosovo embassy or consulate, no earlier than 3 months before the trip. Fee EUR 40 for a short-stay (C) visa, EUR 80 for a long-stay (D) visa. No e-visa is mentioned on the official page.
- Proof of funds
Border officers may ask for proof of funds and the purpose of travel (UK FCDO).
- Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa
Kosovo publishes no yellow fever rule for South Africans in the sources checked. It is not a yellow fever risk country, so no certificate is needed to return to South Africa from Kosovo, unless you transited a risk country.
- Extending your stay and overstaying
Stays beyond 90 days need registration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a residence permit (UK FCDO).
