Visa requirement
South Africans don't need a visa for Macao.
Permitted stay
You can stay up to 30 days per visit.
Before you go
- Purpose of visit
Tourism and short visits. Work needs separate authorisation.
- Passport validity
GSA says passport valid 90 days beyond the stay with 2 blank pages. Not confirmed at tier 1.
- How to apply
No application. Stay is granted on arrival.
- Where South Africans apply
Not needed for visits up to 30 days.
- Proof of funds
GSA reports Macao may ask for proof of funds on a sliding scale, from MOP 5,000 for up to 7 days to MOP 20,000 or more for 22 days or longer. Not confirmed at tier 1.
- Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa
Macao publishes no yellow fever rule for South Africans in the sources checked. Macao is not a yellow fever risk area, so no certificate is needed to return to South Africa from Macao, unless you transited a risk country.
- Extending your stay and overstaying
Extensions of the Authorization to Stay are handled by the Public Security Police Force (procedure published on fsm.gov.mo).
