South Africans don't need a visa for Oman.
Permitted stay
You can stay up to 14 days per visit.
Before you go
- Purpose of visit
Tourism/short visit under the exemption. Work/study and stays over 14 days need a visa via the ROP e-visa portal.
- Passport validity
At least 6 months.
- How to apply
No application for up to 14 days. For longer stays: Royal Oman Police e-visa portal evisa.rop.gov.om (e-Visa call centre +968 22848200). Fees not stated on MFA page.
- Where South Africans apply
Online at evisa.rop.gov.om; no embassy application needed for tourism.
- Travel insurance
Health insurance required as a condition of the 14-day exemption (no minimum cover stated).
- Return or onward ticket
Return ticket required.
- Proof of funds
Sufficient funds for the stay required (amount not stated).
- Accommodation or invitation
Confirmed hotel reservation required.
- Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa
Yellow fever certificate required if arriving from a yellow-fever-transmission-risk country. Oman is not a risk country itself.
- Extending your stay and overstaying
Visa-free stay cannot be extended. Overstay fines up to OMR 10 per day, capped at OMR 500 (FCDO).
