Gambia: do South Africans need a visa?

South Africans don't need a visa for the Gambia. You can stay up to 90 days per visit.

Visa-free. The Gambia Immigration Department lists South Africa among the visa-exempt African countries. The Gambia Tourism Board also lists South Africa as exempt as an African Union and Commonwealth member. No entry clearance or online pre-registration is needed. Entry clearance only applies to non-exempt nationals from countries where The Gambia has no embassy or consulate.12

Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa

THE GAMBIA: A yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a yellow fever transmission risk country (UK and US advice). Arriving direct from South Africa this does not apply, but it does if you route via a risk country. SOUTH AFRICA: The Gambia is on South Africa's yellow fever risk list. Everyone over 1 year old, South Africans included, returning to South Africa from The Gambia, or after an airport transit of more than 12 hours there, must show a valid yellow fever certificate on arrival in South Africa. Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel; the certificate is valid for life.456
