Trip checklist: Singapore

For South African passport holders. Last checked 5 October 2026.

Visa requirement

South Africans don't need a visa for Singapore.

Permitted stay

You can stay up to 30 days per visit, and you can apply to extend.

Before you go

  • Purpose of visit

Short-term visit (tourism, social, business meetings). Visitors may not engage in paid work.

  • Passport validity

At least 6 months, individually-issued travel document.

  • How to apply

No visa application. Submit the free SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival (see arrival_forms).

  • Return or onward ticket

Carry proof of onward travel (ICA).

  • Proof of funds

Carry proof of sufficient funds (ICA); no amount published. Declare physical currency over SGD 20,000.

  • Accommodation or invitation

Accommodation address declared in SG Arrival Card; no invitation needed.

  • Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa

Yellow fever certificate required from anyone who has recently been in a yellow fever risk area (FCDO: within the 6 days before arrival). South Africa is not a risk country, so direct travellers from SA need none; travellers coming via e.g. Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana or Brazil do.

  • Arrival forms

SG Arrival Card (SGAC) with mandatory health declaration, compulsory for all travellers except those transiting without clearing immigration. Submit within 3 days (including arrival day) before arrival via the ICA SGAC e-Service or MyICA app. Free of charge; commercial sites charging fees are not ICA.

  • Extending your stay and overstaying

Short-term visitors can apply online to extend their Visit Pass (ICA e-Service). Overstaying is an offence: fines, imprisonment, caning (for longer overstays) and deportation.

  • Transit

Airside transit without immigration clearance: no SGAC needed. Visa-Free Transit Facility (up to 96 hours) exists for visa-required nationals; not needed by South Africans.

  • Confirm with the embassy

Rules change. Check the official source before you book.
