Indonesia: do South Africans need a visa?

South Africans can get a visa on arrival in Indonesia. You can stay up to 30 days per visit, and you can apply to extend.

Visa on arrival (VoA), available in advance online as e-VOA. South Africa is on Indonesia's VoA/e-VOA country list.34

Either e-VOA online before travel at the official portal https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id (Directorate General of Immigration; up to 5 applicants per submission; pay by Visa/Mastercard/JCB; visa sent by email), or buy VoA on arrival at main international airports and seaports. Fee IDR 500,000. Other visa types (e.g. 60-day multiple-entry tourist visa) are applied for on the same portal.12

No embassy application needed for VoA/e-VOA. For other visas, apply online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Pretoria handles consular matters (its website kemlu.go.id/pretoria showed no usable content when checked).15

Vaccinations, including yellow fever on return to South Africa

Yellow fever certificate required only if arriving from a yellow-fever transmission-risk country. Indonesia is not a risk country, so South Africa's certificate rule does not apply on return (but check if routing via a risk country).2

Arrival forms

All Indonesia Arrival Card, mandatory since 1 October 2025. One form combining immigration, customs (replaces e-CD) and health/quarantine (replaces SATUSEHAT) declarations. Submit free of charge at https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the official 'All Indonesia' app within 3 days (72 hours) before arrival, or on arrival. Bali levy: every foreign tourist entering Bali pays IDR 150,000 once per trip, online at https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id (or Love Bali app) before arrival, or at airport/port counters. A QR voucher is emailed. Exempt: diplomatic/official visa holders, crew, KITAS/KITAP holders, family-unification visa holders; student and golden visa holders must apply for exemption.786

Each traveller including children needs their own e-VOA and arrival card. Love Bali FAQ does not say children are exempt from the levy.7
